Yoko Taro doubts Nier Replicant testament deal very considerably because Automata was 'a fluke'
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... arrived today, and we like IT an awful lot, with some caveats. "Even in its remastered form, Nier remains a curious and at times tedious game, a piece of art enthusiastic to essa everything and perpetually quest out the hardest notes to hit," we same in our 90% survey. "Merely it's besides one of the near memorable games I've ever played, and the remaster captures and enhances its immenseness in just well-nig every way."
One individual who doesn't share that level of enthusiasm for the game is Yoko Dasheen, the creative director of the Nier games. In a message posted on the Square Enix website, he reminded everyone that Nier Replicant is clean a "variation upgrade" of the 2010 PS3 original, and predicted that it's not active to sell selfsame well because none of his games of all time do.
"In recent years, when I undergo been around Square Enix, they always emit this palpable aura of enthusiasm as if to say 'Feel! Nier: Automata (the previous thing I successful) did well, so Nier Replicant will also sell straightaway'," he aforesaid. "I would look-alike to learn this chance to tell Square Enix to take a well behaved hard deal reality. Simply the names are like and the content of the two games is whole different, so information technology's not really going to betray all that well now, is information technology lads?"
"I mean, progress, I made it! Automata selling was a fluke, and all my other stuff has hardly oversubscribed anything worthy of observe. If you rattling do go ahead and manufacture all these discs and then hive away them in a big pile in a warehouse somewhere, the only thing we can do thereupon will personify to have a good game of frisbee. Although, I mean… that does sound like amusing and entirely…"
It's an rum attitude for a creative director to take about his own gamey, but Yoko Taro is beautiful well known as a bit of a strange blighter. There's even a book most him, published in 2019, known as The Oddish Whole shebang of Yoko Taro. Simply his better hal along the project, producer Yosuke Saito, shared out some doubts of his own—although at least he has a backup plan.
"NieR: Automata's big success was honestly within reason of a miracle, so I don't think we will be selling quite that much… However, if we don't shift a certain come then Mr. Yoko and myself will be forced to travel the world, selling the biz out the back of a van. Ah, and Mr. Okabe will suffer to progress too!" he said. "And then now you know this, please proceed on supporting the NieR serial. Please, anything but the van…"
Yoko Taro recently confirmed that he's working on some other new game for Square Enix, and he doesn't seem to take over more hope for it either: He described it during a livestream terminal week as "a somewhat unusual game" that he has "no idea how to explain or sell."
